Research & Development Team:

In response to over 90 years of continued growth and success, HPS is seeking experienced dry-type transformer designers to join our Research & Development team to contribute to new product development and design.  We are a leading manufacturer of dry-type standard and specialty transformers and related magnetic products from 25VA to 35MVA, in voltage class up to 46kV & 250kV BIL.

Role Overview:

This high-caliber, Electrical Design Engineer position challenges you to apply continuous improvement initiatives and complex transformer designs, evaluate quotation requests for unique applications and recommend costs and technical details where required.  You will also competently estimate customer order packages and conceive electrical designs to meet specific requirements at minimum total cost.   Our Electrical Designers are also accountable for evaluating the final test reports for product conformance to specifications and ensuring adherence to national and international electrical codes and standards.

Requirements:

• Electrical Engineering degree and a minimum of  5 years of design experience in power transformers, reactors or experience in a manufacturing environment producing conventional dry-type or cast resin transformers
• Masters degree or P. Eng in Electrical Engineering (Power) is preferable
• Must demonstrate  effective  interpersonal skills when interacting wtih internal and external customers
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language
• Ability to develop new concepts and work in a team with multi-disciplinary members, suppliers and customers 
• Applicants must also demonstrate an ability to take initiative with projects and seeing them through to completion with minimum direction
• Thrive on technical challenges, and possess a strong understanding of transformer/ reactor fundamentals
