Role Overview:
Overall responsibility for electrical design methods, processes, improvements & innovations that will produce a competitive edge in the marketplace, within budget, for custom/ standard Reactor and Filter design and cost optimization. The Reactor Specialist is responsible for conducting complex analyses and will develop recommendations based on sound engineering practices and business considerations. Maintains awareness of state-of-the-art technology and market trends affecting Company products and services and recommend responsive actions.
Product Design/ Development:
-
Support R & D design team in cost effective and innovative product design (Reactors, filters, related transformer products)

Serve as consultant to management and customers regarding advanced technical studies, their potential application and the resolution of complex problems, including customer visits as required

Prepare statistical/mathematical models for electrical performance or simulations and conduct independent studies and research utilizing analytical techniques and novel/ unconventional approaches

Analyze test data and validate prototypes

Develop strong relationships with R&D Mechanical, Sales, Marketing, Supply Line, Mfg Engineering for identifying cost effective marketable quality product that can be easily manufactured

May temporarily manage and direct activities of other team members and assist in their professional and technical development

Prepare SPI’s for new methods & electrical design guidelines
Engineering Design Software:
-
Understand & assist in maintaining existing in-house software
-
Develop new models and logic for automatic design creation as required in design software

Be part of a team in selecting new software when required
Production Order Design:
-
Prepare electrical designs & drawings from customer orders within physical space and environment limitations

Issue complete design, drawings, BOM to manufacturing

Prepare technical information required for Quotations / Inside Sales
Previous Experience Required:
-
Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements and standards (UL, IEEE, CSA, NEMA, ANSI)

Exposure to cross functional team environment at various levels
-
Min. 3- 5 years design experience in reactor design or development

Understanding of the Drive, Rectifier industry
Education:
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering (Power preferable)
