Research & Development Team:

Add prestige to your design portfolio by joining our product Research and Development team as an advanced level Mechanical Designer where you will innovate existing products and electro-magnetic solutions for new applications.  We are a world leading manufacturer of dry-type standard and specialty transformers and related magnetic products from 25VA to 35MVA, in voltage class up to 46kV & 250kV BIL.  In response to 90+ years of continued growth and success, HPS is seeking experienced individuals who can contribute to new product development and design. 

Role Overview:

A successful R & D Mechanical Designer  can effectively produce cost-reducing and marketable designs for an extensive range of transformers, reactors and other magnetic products to meet strict customer specifications. This includes calculating & providing mechanical calculations (stress, strains, structural etc.) for various HPS products. This role is also expected to develop new models and logic for automated design creation using proprietary software.  If you can complete these requirements in a timely manner, as well as accurately conduct mechanical and seismic suitability calculations and certifications, this position is for you.

Requirements:

• A college or university degree/ diploma in Mechanical  Engineering
• Proficient user of AutoCAD 2007 and/or Solidworks 3-D modelling software
• Minimum of 5 years of design experience in power transformers, reactors and/or heavy electrical products 
• Experience in conventional dry-type or cast resin transformers would be an advantage
• Must exhibit  effective  interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language
• Ability to develop new concepts and work in a team with multi-disciplinary members, suppliers and customers
