Ontario 2018 Efficiency Compliance
October 23rd, 2017
The Province of Ontario has adopted new efficiency levels for dry-type transformers produced on or after January 1st, 2018. For additional information, please refer to ON Reg. 401-12 update: https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/120404#BK16, where Schedule 6 lists the new efficiency levels for dry type transformers. While the new Ontario efficiency regulation for dry-type transformers aligns with the proposed levels set out in Amendment 14 by Natural Resources Canada (via NRCan SOR/2016-311), there is no interdependency. The Ontario regulation change stands on its own, and will become Law in the Province of Ontario on January 1st, 2018.
After consulting with the Ontario Ministry of Energy, Natural Resources Canada and obtaining independent legal advice, Hammond Power Solutions (HPS) reaffirms our intent to abide by the Laws of Ontario. As a result, HPS will continue to support the Ontario market with products that meet the current CSA 802.2-2012 efficiency levels, where these can be produced by December 31st, 2017. For all products with an expected production date January 1st, 2018, or later, HPS will provide price and estimated delivery for the families of LV and MV dry-type transformer products that were launched in the Canadian marketplace today.
